Solano Supervisor Candidates to Chat
VALLEJO - Come and meet Solano County District One Supervisor contenders at a "Chat with the Candidates." The conversation will take place 7:00 pm on Thursday evening May 17, 2012 in the Better Vallejo Room of the historic Bay Terrace Theater, 51 Daniels Ave, Vallejo, CA. It is free to the public and doors open at 6:30pm.
The event will be held in an informal "living room" setting. Your evening's moderator, Jeff Ames, will guide candidates through introductions and a series of prepared questions. A reception will follow to allow citizens a chance to get to know the contestants.
Ames said "at one time most politics were discussed face-to-face around kitchen tables. This forum is an allusion to that area. People should feel comfortable with their representatives. An informal atmosphere helps promote that familiarity."
The candidates are vying for a seat to be vacated by retiring supervisor Barbara Kondylis. Susan B. Anthony, Erin Hannigan, Tony Intintoli, Katy Miessner, and Lee Sturn Simmons are on the June 5 primary ballot. If no candidate receives greater than 50% of the vote there will be a November runoff for the position.
The Bay Terrace Theater is located in a Vallejo Subdivision originally named "Georgetown." The community was designed by George W. Kelham; a student of Frederick Law Olmsted, architect of Golden Gate Park, Central Park and the "Emerald Necklace" in Boston. The building has been home to the Mira Theater Guild since 1963.
The forum is produced by Jeff Ames with facilities donated by the MIRA Theater Guild. For more information call (707)731-2170 or email jeffrey.l.ames@gmail.com.
